One of the things I've decided to change on the build is that I'll be fitting a 5-speed type 9 gearbox (from a Sierra) instead of the 4-speed 'rocket' box I was originally planning on. This means relocating the gear lever hole 3cm rearwards and modifying the crossmember underneath the floor.

To keep my options open I'll mount the gear lever hole on a plate and make it reversible, so I can refit the 4-speed should I ever want to!

Here, as you can see, I've cut out the original gearbox hole and drilled small holes that the new plate will be screwed into.
